97.19.1.1Description
Alarm clock; Nickel-plated metal "Big Ben" alarm clock manufactured by Westclox. The clock has a black face with white Roman numerals and hands painted with luminous paint. "Westclox/ Big Ben" is printed below the hour and minute hand center pin and there is a separate dial that is printed below the "12" that indicates the alarm setting. There is a metal ring on the top of the body. On either side of the ring are settings for "Steady", "Repeat", "Silent", "Alarm" (an early version of a "snooze alarm"). On the back of the body there are knobs for setting the alarm, the time, and for winding the clock's works. Clock rests upright on two short legs and a metal tab that is attached to the back. According to the donor, Martin Harrison, all of the clock's mechanisms appear to be in working order. Nickel body is pitted and scratched, and there are a few loose flakes of luminous paint inside the face. Overall physical condition and appearance is good. "Westclox/ Big Ben"Lexicon
