Description

WESTERN AVENUE, NORTH OF PICO BOULEVARD, LOS ANGELES, 1905 Color: Black; White A photograph of a group of cyclists on Western Avenue, north of Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles, 1905. The image shows the group of perhaps fifteen persons on the bicycles walking or riding on the dirt road with wide expanses of open fields, a few homes, no trees, and, in the distance, the Santa Monica Mountains as a backdrop. Someone wrote "Hollywood" at left of center to indicate the community's location. On the reverse upper left, in pencil, is the inscription "Western Ave. Looking / north from Pico." With light creases at the corners, light soiling, and small stains at the top front left and some on the back, mostly on the right, the condition is good. Number-Units: 1
