Description

Pillowcase: White rectangular cotton pillow cover. Probably used on a bedroom day-pillow. The top of the pillow cover has a large handmade and machine embroidered design at center. The design shows a basket of eyelet flowers inside a scalloped-edged oval. Basket and oval where made by using embroidered cutwork to create an overall eyelet pattern. Reverse side is plain. The opening at the bottom of the reverse side can be closed with three fabric-covered metal buttons. Each button has a decorative center crocheted with cotton thread. Pillowcase has yellowed somewhat because of starch residue and exposure to light. Light yellow stain at center but not noticeable at a distance. Clean. Overall physical condition and appearance is good.
