Color: White
A white fur stole, ca. 1900. The type of animal from which the fur was taken is not known. Stitching at the silk lining seems to indicate that two separate skins were used and the piece is fastened together with a celluloid, ivory or bone and fabric chain to fit the piece over the head and have the fur be worn around the neck like a collar. A tag stitched onto the lining reads "H. Liebes & Co. / FURS / CLOAKS AND SUITS / SAN FRANICISCO" and the words "TRADE MARK" and "REGISTERED" are at left with what may be the company's motto, a series of five medallions. Aside from two small stains and a tear on the edge of the lining, the artifact does not appear to have pest infestation and is in good condition.Lexicon
