Description

WHITE SQUARE COTTON TABLECLOTH WITH WHITE EMBROIDERED DESIGN Color: White A white square cotton tablecloth with a white embroidered design around the edges, ca. 1920. It is machine embroidered with white cotton thread in a scallop design around the outer edges. There is a 5" knotted embroidery and cut-work flower at each corner. The flowers have raised embroidery leaves on each side and are connected to each other with an embroidery and cut-work swag design. The tablecloth is in good condition but heavily creased because it was folded into 1/16ths and stored for a long time. There is one small brown mark near the center. There is also a 1/2" mend and one hole along the edge at center. The object was purchased in Panama by Martha O'Grady McElwaine in 1920-21.
