Description

Color: White A white table runner with ecru embroidery, ca. 1920s. The center section is plain and unadorned. On the two sides, however, are designs with three flowers in embroidery with cut work in the middle of the center flower. Next to these is a buttercup-like design with a cut work outer border and emboridered details on the inside and around the flower. At the top and bottom middle of the center panel are individual flowers with cut work centers and some embroidered details. On the outer edge is an elaborate series of designs consisting of wave-like patterns facing the center panel--there are embroidered details in these waves, in addition to a series of angled and crossed lines pierced in the fabric. An unbroken line with curves wraps around the piece--extending or around this are a variety of floral designs as well as occasional dome-shaped pieces of cut work. There is a mesh-like appearance to the areas between the designs along the border and there is a thin edging, as well. With little indication of damage or wear, the artifact is in good condition.
