Description

Color: Black; Gold; Green; Red; White "Who's Who in Los Angeles County, 1927-28," (Los Angeles: Charles J. Lang,) 1928. The 343-page softcover book has a leather or leather substitute wrapper, on the front cover of which are embossed floral borders, a center design of flowering vines, a somewhat oval panel with the title, and a diamond panel with the year. Inside there is a small introductory note to this fourth of the series; a title page with the photograph, office address, and telephone of the publisher; and two essays on the city from the mayor and Chamber of Commerce president. Photographs of notable buildings and sites in the city and region follow. Included among them, on page seventeen, are buildings designed by architects Albert H. Walker and Percy Eisen, although their names are not present, and which include the Edison Building in Alhambra, built by the Temple Estate Company, and the Great Republic Life and National City Bank buildings in Los Angeles, of which Walter P. Temple was an investor. From page thirty-three are short biographical sketches and photographs of notable men and women in the county, including Temple's attorney and partner, George H. Woodruff and William H. Workman, Jr. With cover abrasions, dogeared corners, surface soiling, fading to the cover colors, and overall wear, the condition is fair.
