Description
WILLIAM H. WORKMAN ADDRESSING THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SOCIETY OF PIONEERS
Color: Black; White
A reproduction black and white photograph of William H. Workman addressing the Los Angeles County Society of Pioneers, 1914. The image shows Workman at left standing on a wood platform with his right hand resting on a railing and his left hand holding an American flag. He wears a dark three-piece suit with a white shirt and long, striped tie. There are ribbons and medals pinned to the left side of his jacket. To the right is a pennant attached to the front of the railing reading "WELCOME / L.A. COUNTY / PIONEERS." Below this pennant is a vase with flowers sitting on the stage floor. Seated on a wood bench in the background behind Workman are several older men and women, probably officers of the society. In the far background is a mass of large trees, indicating that the affair was located in a park or open space. Workman, a nephew of William Workman, was long active in the society. As a newly produced photograph, the artifact is in mint condition.
