Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of William Mulholland in a field, ca. 1910. Mulholland stands at the center and wears a wide-brim hat, long-sleeve shirt, dark pants, and high boots. His right thumb is tucked at the top of the pants and the left hand is on the tripod of a surveying scope which is at the right. A dirt path is at his feet and all around are weeds and wild-flowers. Across the back are the sides of tree-lined hills. A credit to the Hearst Newspaper Collection at the University of California Library is typed at the center of the back. Below this is, "This photograph is not to be reproduced / without permission from the USC Library." The artifact has no signs of damage or wear and is therefore in good condition. Number-Units: 1
