Description

Color: Black; White A black and white engraved photograph of William Workman, ca. 1870, showing him in a head and shoulders view, and wearing a dark suit and tie with white shirt. The actual image is 6 1/2"H x 4 3/4"W. At the bottom left is "The American Historical Society" and at the right is "Eng. by E. G. Williams & Bro., N. Y.." A facsimile of Workman's signature is below the photograph. This image was created for use in the 1921 book, "Los Angeles: From the Mountains to the Sea," by John Steven McGroarty and this appears to be an extra copy, another of which is 94.11.1.67. With many creases, edge tears, foxing, small stains, and browning, especially along the edges, the image shows little evidence of wear, and so the overall condition is fair. Number-Units: 1
