Description
WOMAN SEATED ON WOODEN LOGS, POSSIBLY AT THE HOMESTEAD
Color: Black; White
A photograph of a woman, possibly Violita Rowland, seated on a stack of wooden beams or logs, dated 22 February 1926. The woman is evidently clad in a riding costume (note the leg coverings) and holds a large straw sombrero in her hands and she has her head turned and resting on the brim of the hat. There are dozens of logs or beams piled up and she sits at the left of the pile. There are some leafless branches of a tree in the background, but no identifying features, except for an inscription in ink on the reverse left reading "Rancho / 2'22'26." The number "73" is also written on the reverse. The image was nearly cut about two-thirds to the right and then taped on the back. Aside form this there is some discoloration and light soiling, so the artifact is in fair overall condition.
