"Woman's Home Companion," December 1929, published by The Crowell Publishing Company, Chicago. The 152-page artifact has the title at the top of the front cover with the issue date and price just below and on either side. A large image of a mother and son in what appears to be early 19th-century dress playing with Christmas toys takes up most of the cover and there is a border with "CHRISTMAS 1929 repeated on it. Contents include fiction and poetry; special articles on such topics as historical food, books for Christmas gifts, traveling in southern California, unsuccessful parents, finding jobs, and other Christmas-related articles; and regular features including gardening, Christmas gifts, interior furnishings, fashions, food, for the children, and others. Illustrations include some photographs and black and white and color drawings. Many advertisements are throughout. In good condition, the artifact has some corner and spine rubbing, spine brittleness, creases on the cover and some page corners, cover soiling, page yellowing, light fading of cover colors, paper flaking along the spine, cover corner and page corner folds, losses to the top and bottom of the spine, cover and page handling stains, staple tarnish, and tears to the cover and spine and the bottom right of pages 7-12.Lexicon
