WOOD FRAGMENTS FROM A CASKET

Entry/Object ID

Description

Eight pieces of wood, in varying sizes, believed to be pieces of a coffin, unearthed during the digging of the crypt for Nellie D. Temple, April 1998. The pieces match those found encrusted in dirt on several sections of glass and metal from this accession. Wet when initially retrieved, the drying out process of being exposed to air has made these objects very brittle and fragile and they are in poor condition.
