Description

Color: Brown A wood gouge used in the manufacture of furniture, ca. 1900. The piece has a thin metal fork-like blade 5 1/2" inches long and 1/4" wide which curves 1 3/4" from the end and has a groove creating two points at the end for chiseling. The other end is fitted into a hole in one end of the wood handle. The handle has a thick end with the body tapering toward the blade. Pressed into the wood at the two places is the owner's name "H KOCH." There are many scratches and chips as well as surface soiling in the handle and significant corrosion and rust on the blade, so the item is in fair condition.
