Description

Color: Brown A wood shaping plane used in the manufacture of furniture, ca. 1900. The piece has a thick section of wood with wood guides at the bottom, as opposed to the steel guides in item .6. Inserted through the wood at a 45-degree angle is the wood handle and steel chisel, which emerges through the bottom and the chisel point extending just past the edge of the guide. Pressed into the wood at one end is the owner's name "H KOCH" and the manufacturer's name "SANDUSKY TOOL CO. / OHIO." At the other end is the fraction "5/8" referring to the thickness of wood the tool planes and Koch's name in three places. There are many scratches and chips as well as surface soiling on the wood and significant corrosion and rust on the blade, so the item is in fair condition.
