Description

WORKERS AND ADOBE-MAKING SITE, WORKMAN HOMESTEAD Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of workers at adobe-making sites on the Workman Homestead, ca. 1924. There are at least two large adobe kilns, stacks of bricks, an area where bricks are laid on the ground for drying, and part of a large pit at the far left. One worker walks toward a wheelbarrow at the edge of the pit and he carries a brick. Behind him is another worker kneeling next to a row of bricks on the ground. A shovel rests against a stack of bricks near him. At the right may be a third kiln with openings in which kindling, such as the tree branches, presumably from walnut trees, which are next to this area. Two trees, assumed to be walnuts, are near two kilns. Aside from non-intrusive darkening on edges, there appear to be no areas of wear or damage and the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
