Description

Color: Black; White A reproduction black and white photograph of members of the Workman family in Seattle, ca. 1905. The group of seven sits on wood benches and chairs and on a grassy area at an unknown location. Among those are William H. Workman, who sits at right with his left hand around the shoulders of a woman seated in a rocking chair. Workman wears a dark-colored vest and long tie and a long-sleeved white shirt. At far left is his wife, Maria, wearing a long white dress and looking over at her husband. Her right hand rests on the shoulder of her son, William H., Jr., who sits on the ground next to her. He wears a light-colored vest, white shirt, and dark colored pants and shoes and holds a hat in his left hand. His right hand is atop his mother's hand. There is an older woman seated at the center, wearing a white dress and staring at William H. Workman. Two boys, appearing to be brothers, are next to the elder Workman--one sitting on a bench and the other on the grass below. The wear what appears to be identical dark-colored suits with light-colored shirts and ties and wide-banded hats, which one boy wears and the others has sitting next to him. The image was identified as being taken in Seattle, where William H., Jr. was working in the power utility industry and his parents were visiting, though the identities of the others are not known. As a newly produced photograph, the artifact is in mint condition. Number-Units: 2
