WORKMAN HOUSE COURTYARD GREENHOUSEEntry/Object ID
99.5.33.778Description
Color: Brown; White
A color polaroid photograph of the Workman House courtyard, including a greenhouse, ca. 1977. Taken from the east, the image shows the greenhouse at left, built of wood at the lower part of the frame and for the door and having large sections of glass. In front of the greenhouse is the grape arbor supported on thin wooden poles, probably erected by the Brown family, and a cement sidewalk that passed from the house to the Water Tower. At the right is a portion of the southwest wing of the Workman House, including at far right, a thin sliver of the door and concrete steps and metal rail that led into the room when the house was used by the Brown family. In the foreground lower right is a narrow trench with a pipe laid in it. A tall metal pipe or pole comes out of the trench near the sidewalk, but what type of pipe was laid and what the pole was used for is not clear. A piece of plywood and what may be a sawhorse or small worktable are at left. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
