WORKMAN HOUSE EAST SIDE, FRAMING FOR REINSTALLATION OF ADOBE WALL
Color: Brown
A color polaroid photograph of framing in the east side of the Workman House for the reinstallation of adobe walls, 13 June 1977. Because of the collapse earlier in the year of the original adobe wall, the restoration effort included, at left, the installation of cement blocks on the outside, with the use of wood framing to support half-adobes reinstalled on the inside. Part of a window with a thick casing is at far left. In the case of the dividing wall between rooms, seen at center, the framing is up and a lintel over the door extends to the east wall. The adobe brick was to be installed within the framing here, as well. At the top of the photograph is part of the ceiling with a large section of plaster gone, possibly from the wall collapse, and the lath exposed beneath. In the background, through the doorway, is the large room at the center of the building, which was largely empty. An inscription in pencil at the bottom reads "East Wall Workman H. Ready / For Adobe Block Installation / 6/13/77." With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good shape.
