Description

WORKMAN HOUSE EAST WALL AFTER REBUILDING OF THE COLLAPSED SECTION Color: Green; White A color polaroid photograph of the east side of the Workman House after the rebuilding of the collapsed section, 18 June 1977. The adobe section of the first floor to where the brick addition begins at center is replaced with concrete blocks, though the inside was faced with original bricks cut in half. Debris from the original wall may be lying on the ground next to the structure, while the remainder of the salvageable bricks are now in the basement of the house. The square window at left was reinstalled as originally positioned. Above this is the brick second floor with the original bricks reestablished. The gray-shingled roof is still in place, before it was replaced by brown wood shingles. At right is the northeast wing of the house with some of the plaster removed below the window and revealing the brick beneath. Next to the window is a downspout that was soon after removed. At far right is a portion of the front side of the wing, with some wood debris stacked against the wall. At the bottom, lying along the east wall is a wooden ladder and a long wood piece is at left on the ground, as well. An inscription in ink at the bottom of the artifact reads "Workman N. E. Wing / 6/18/77." There is little indication of damage or wear to the object, which is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
