WORKMAN HOUSE FROM SOUTHEASTEntry/Object ID
98.15.1.1Description
Color: Black and white
A black and white reproduction photograph of the Workman House, taken from the southeast, ca. 1890s. The original photograph, borrowed from Craig Fucile, was taken from a dirt road running north and south along the east side of the house. Between the road and the house is a metal pole fence with white wood posts. At the left is the rear garden with bushes and trees, as well as a wood trellis running north and south. The house at center and right is partially obscured by a tree, so that the porch cannot be seen, except for a portion of the baluster and one post. Bushes also obscure the east side, so that the windows and door are covered downstairs. Especially notable are projections out the tops of the two south-side chimneys, which appear to be flues, though there is a fireplace beneath the west chimney, there is no evidence today of anything below the east (an early description of the house does mention a fireplace there before 1870, however.) The photograph is in mint condition.
