WORKMAN HOUSE NORTH PORCH PLASTER STRIPPING DETAIL
Color: Brown; White
A color polaroid photograph of a detail of plaster stripping on the north wall of the Workman House, ca. June 1978. At the bottom is a section of the modern yellow plaster stripped away to reveal, at top, the original "granite blocks" plasterwork with its lines still well-defined, though the plaster was gouged for the application of the yellow plaster. Toward the top is what appears to be a third, older layer of plain white plaster with cross-gouges. Above this is a thin sliver of exposed adobe. On the reverse is an ink inscription reading "Workman Residence / North Porch / Detail at left jamb / of main door / prior to restoration / photo Jeff Tyler, Alhambra / R-5 #35 / ca. 6/78." Beneath this is a stamp of restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number, covered with a piece of tape. At the right edge, covered by correction tape is another inscription "Workman Residence / detail of plaster." With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
