Description

WORKMAN HOUSE SOUTH ELEVATION FROM THE SOUTHWEST Color: Black; Blue; Brown; Green; Red A color photograph of the Workman House south elevation from the southwest by Julius Shulman, ca. 1981. The two-story home is centered with the shingled roof with red-brick chimneys at the top left and right. Part of the southeast wing is at the far right and the entire west side is at the left. Much of the south porch is visible between the building's wings. Many of the windows and architectural elements, such as brackets, quoins, and porch rails and balusters are included in the image, as well as the paint colors done after restoration in the late 1970s. A woman in a red top and white skirt stands at the top of the stairs and a man in a white shirt and brown pants sits on the baluster. At the far right are part of the courtyard, arbor, and a tree. The courtyard's west wall is at the right of the foreground and in a planter next to the wall are a variety of plants. Part of the stone-lined center drive is at the left of the foreground. In the background behind the house are palms and other trees. The photographer's name is in white on the bottom right corner as well as on the back with his studio address. With only light creases and dents at the bottom, the image is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
