Description

WORKMAN HOUSE SOUTHWEST ROOM DETAIL BEFORE RESTORATION, 1978 Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the Workman House southwest room detail before restoration, July 1978. The image features a detail view of the top of the room with the edging of the pitched roof seen to the left. Wood shingles cap the roof which has molded brackets lining the bottom edging. To the right is a semicircular window with a mold on the top center and a bracket on either side near the top. A portruding window sill across the bottom has a checkered ruler to indicate the scale of the image; the center of the window has wood shutters, seen ajar, with chipping paint and wood. The surrounding wall has plaster molded in a brick design, but in disrepair with stains, cracks, and breaks throughout; a break on the bottom left reveals the red brick behind the plaster facade. On the bottom right is the top of the first floor's triple-fronted window; only two arches of the cornice, which have a mold on the top center, can be seen. Written in black on the back top left is: "WORKMAN RESIDENCE/ -S. W. CORNER - SOUTH SIDE/ -JEFF TYLER, ALHAMBRA, CA./ -PHOTO NEG. #24/ -3/4" SCALE/ -Taken ca. Jun/ July 1978." To the right is a stamp with the name and business information of Raymond Girvigian, the restoration arhcitect; another stamp on the bottom has the date, "NOV 14 1981." With no signs of wear, the image is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
