Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the Workman House west wall detail, July 1978. The image features the south side of the west wall with a window in the right center. With an arhed cornice and of semicircular shape, the window has a mold on the top middle and a molded bracket on either side below the cornice; there is a portruding sill along the bottom and a sign on the bottom center of the glass that reads, "WEST SIDE." Below the window are wood planks and the square opening of the basement window. To the right of the window is the corner of the wall which has large molded block shapes along the side. The plaster of the wall seen at left is molded in brick form but is in disrepair with cracks, stains, and breaks; a break on the bottom center reveals the red brick behind the plaster facade. Seen on the top center and to the right is the home's pitched roof which is capped by wood shingles; the bottom edging is decorated with molded brackets. In the left foreground are the leaves and branches of a tree. Written in black on the back top left is: "WORKMAN RESIDENCE/ -WEST WALL - SOUTH END/ -JEFF TYLER, photo neg. #40/ alhambra, Ca./ taken ca. Jun/ July 1978 (before restoration)/ -scale: 1/2"." To the right is a stamp with the name and business information of Raymond Girvigian, the restoration architect; another stamp below has the date, "NOV 14 1981." With no signs of wear, the image is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
