Color: Brown; red
A Wright & Ditson Criterion tennis racket, ca. 1920s. The wooden racket has a leather butt with ten fasteners at the end of the shaft, on the end of which is imprinted "WRIGHT & DITSON / MAKERS / WHEN NOT IN USE / KEEP IN A PRESS / BOSTON." There is a grooved wooden handle and a lighter colored wooden shaft, on which the following are imprinted on the sides: "WRIGHT & DITSON, MAKERS / U. S. A."; "KEEP IN A PRESS / WHEN NOT IN USE"; "CRITERION" in variously-sized block letters; and "Wright & Ditson" in script. Four bands of red material are at the shoulder and lower part of the head. The strings are red, as well. Several of the strings are broken; there are chips and scratches in the wood finish; and wear and fading on the butt, and the racket is in good condition generally.
