Autographed to Jean Hanson. Richard Peck visited the Hudson Volunteer Library (housed at the time in the old bank building that was built in 1913) December 23, 1980 after visiting with his cousin, Ruth Aber. Peck's mother, Virginia, who was also in attendance lived in Decatur where he grew up.
Mr. Peck said the library was the smallest, but friendliest library he had ever visited. "How different this country would be if every town cared as much about books and a library as Hudson does."
