Spaulding, Surveryor General for Illinois and Missouri, certifies in 1853 that the plat is correctly contructed from original field notes. It also references Horatio N. Pettit's 80 acres entry of June 16, 1836 in the Land Entry Book in the County Clerk's Office of McLean County, Illinois.
