Through my lived experience as a Black woman, it is hard to not feel the constant gaze of society weighing down on your back. These gazes tend to always be filled with negative assumptions within the eyes of others. In this self-portrait, I stare back at the same society bold, proudly, and fearless. Serving as a reminder to myself and those that look like me to remember that in the face of adversary, we have the right to gaze back and make our presence known. Everyone has a place and value in this world and should not be made to feel uncomfortable. This duo of images is a part of my ongoing "BluePrint" series.Collection
