‘Akos’ originally stems from an art project I created called “G-Square Hair”.
The focus of that creative project was to highlight the diversity and beauty in Afrocentric hairstyles that Black people across the diaspora could see themselves
in as a means of granting them visibility and reassurance that their stories are
being heard and told. I went about this project by creating a series of eight miniature sculptures that all had different and unique black hairstyles and photographing them all for the purpose of a hair poster one would see in a hair salon. I then decided to experiment with the images I had of the sculptures and made cyanotype prints out of them. The cyanotype thus became a part of a continuous series of cyanotypes I've named “The BluePrint”.Artwork Details
