Description

This work, part of a series with HUM-2016-00007, takes inspiration from sci-fi and the Afrofuturism art & cultural movement, depicting women of colour in roles that defy stereotypes by reclaiming elements of science fiction and popular entertainment. This image depicts a brown-skinned woman with lavender hair, seated in a futuristic vehicle - she is rendered in full colour, whereas the vehicle and elements of the background are left in sketch form, placing her as the undisputed focus of the composition.
