Description

This hemispherical spinning gourd (jícara) has been cut from a dried gourd and features a burnished blackened surface. The design is created through a resist or incising technique, revealing the natural golden-tan color of the gourd beneath. The exterior is decorated with two stylized birds in profile, surrounded by swirling feather motifs and framed within a dark, circular border. Additional short dash-like patterns encircle the rim. A small rounded nub or vestige of the stem remains near the rim, possibly serving as a grip point for spinning. The interior retains the natural matte surface of the gourd, unpolished.
