Description

Tzotzil bag. White muslin bag with embroidered motifs in red and a very thin shoulder strap. The motif embroideries are mostly done in red, but also have green and blue threads. The biggest, most repeated motif is a rectangle with corn stalk-like designs coming out from its four corners and two longer sides. It also has individual corn stalk-like designs on one side and sporadic cross marks on the other. The motifs are pretty spread out over the bag’s body and create a lot of white space. The bag has a thin, twisted yarn strap in red and white. One side of the top opening has knotted twisted fringes. This fringed side can be folded over to form a sort of flap. Bag is made from one piece of fabric folded in half and roughly hand sewn along the sides.
