Description

This Zapotec girl's blouse is made of fine muslin (manta) cotton, machine-assembled with hand-finished embroidery details. The garment is adorned with densely cross-stitched motifs in blue and yellow thread across the yoke, shoulders, and sleeve ends. The neckline is finished with a narrow slit and fastened at the front with a small hook and eye. Light smocking gathers the sleeve volume at the shoulder seams. The blouse flares below the yoke in loose pleats, and the lower edge is left unhemmed with a visible warp fringe.
