Description

This small blouse is constructed from white poplin and tailored by machine with long sleeves and a gathered lower section attached to an embroidered upper yoke. The yoke features counted-thread embroidery (tlamachtli technique) in vibrant red synthetic yarn, depicting floral and bird motifs with a highly stylized symmetry. The embroidery continues with red mercerized cotton thread worked in fine treadle machine stitching around the neckline, sleeve seams, and lower yoke. The cuffs are elaborately adorned with bold floral appliqué embroidery in pink, purple, green, and orange synthetic yarns, adding a vivid burst of color. The blouse includes a cloth lining inside the yoke for reinforcement, designed to prolong the life of the embroidery and stabilize the structure of the garment.
