Description

A "Torito dancer" doll. The dancer is dressed in cornhusk leaves for pants, a long shirt with sleeves and pancho. He has a cornhusk hat with cone-shaped top. There is a ixtle band braided around hat. the face of the doll is made of cornhusk, white cotton hair, brown cotton eyes, and a pink neckband. the doll has clay hands and feet painted in dark brown. The dancer is holding large headdress made of bamboo with wooden cow mask with pointed horns at top. The headdress is topped with colorful rayon flags and multi-colored fireworks made of palm leaves and look like stars or flowers. The dancer stands with right foot on square wooden block. Other leg in mid-air as if dancing. Bright green bows hold bamboo sticks tied together.
