Description

Huichol costume. Man's shirt. Embroidered with commercially dyed threads. Shirt with elastic sleeves at wrist; borders hemmed with orange cotton fabric; both sleeves are decorated with dark blue band with light blue octagonal structures containing orange geometrical and spherical figures; above these dark blue bands are red and mauve roosters embroidered above dark blue bands. These designs are repeated at the armholes and at the hem of the garment front and back. The hem as well as the neck are finished with orange cotton material. The sides of the garment are slit 18 3/4'' from the hem. The edges of the slit are hemmed with white cotton thread. Both sleeves are slit 11 1/2'' from the armhole forming a natural opening in the sleeves. They are hemmed with white cotton thread.
