Description

Drawn-on dibujo (drawing) embroidery technique in cotton thread on high quality poplin ground cloth; máquina (machine) treadle machine work on borders, yoke ruffle, and neckline, tailored and assembled on treadle machine. Note reinforced cotton with embroidery at neckline and double cloth at sleeve gusset.

After years of Jill seeing Margarita Cruz and her mother Lorenza Cruz at the market in Chachahuantla, she accepted their invitation to visit their village. In 1975, Jill returned to the village and stayed for 8 months to conduct her fieldwork and was housed in the Cruz's residence during that time.
