Description

13 3/4 inches x 13 1/2 inches. Handkerchief is printed with blue and depicts a man & woman embracing in from of an American flag. An eagle overhead bears a banner inscribed "The Farewell". Two smaller scenes at either side depict battles. The border is made up of red, white and blue flags in continuous sequence. Attached in upper corner is a round metal pin (10/16 inch) painted in blue, white and red concentric circles bearing the printing AEF over an open V. Special Significance: Souvenir of Camp Devens, Mass. Pin Expeditionary Force WW I. Original Inscription: Greetings from Camp Devens, Mass. When war clouds hover o'er the land, we read of heroes brave/ Our officers on land and sea; o'er them we fairly rave. The real defenders are forgot, the men who fire the gun.
