42 inches high. Crudely made, base 16 1/4 inches x 11 1/2 inches x 2 inches, holds long support (bottom half painted black - probably originally a broom handle) that holds a truncated pyrimidal top. This is made of two crossed pieces of wood, each 24 inches long supporting 4 24" long, 1" diameter wood dowels that lead to an X-shaped crosspiece, 8 inches square. This framework turns on a center wood rood anchored in the stand. This functions to wind skeins of yarn or twine for the use of weavers, spinners, and netters. The swift is pyrimidally-shaped to accomodate different size skeins.
