18.5" x 14.25" framed certificate signed by Joshue Chamberlain attesting to the service of James B Adams in the Union Army of the war of "The Rebellion." Adams (b 1844, d 1914) was the uncle of Rozina Adams Hamilton and Laura Adams Hamilton and greatuncle to Alice Hamilton Bowen of Islesboro. He is buried in the Keller Cemetery on Islesboro.
