Scope and Content

A Portland Press Herald article from March 18,1968. The article, photocopied on several pages from the local news page, was written by area correspondent Dorothy Pendleton. The article is somewhat of a long help-wanted ad, listing in detail the accoutrements available for any doctor who is willing to open his practice on Islesboro. It says the previous doctor, Henry R. Hardy, who came from England, had "regretfully come to the decision that he must leave." Therefore the position, and the sizeable Dark Harbor house that goes with it, was available. A picture of the house was printed above the article. The article also had a hand-written note scrawled across the top and bottom to "John L and the Mrs. and family" from "Edna?"
