Scope and Content

This scrapbook with a brown and gold cover is half filled with newspaper clippings documenting life on Islesboro over a number of years (1950s-1960s?). Some of the articles included in the book highlight, new ferry projects to construct new ferry terminals and new ships (Governor Muskie), basketball games in community hall, trouble getting a small dental clinic on the island, public suppers, the future of the community building, Mason Lodge elections, Winners of Christmas light contest, Governor Brann's engine troubles, Henry Coombs' Piggy Bank troubles, Warren's Island becoming a State Park, a description and photo of the Eames House as a part of the Maine's Historic Homes series, the installation of a carillon record system in the Second Baptist Church, a New Years candle lighting service at Second Baptist Church, and the gift of a Hammond electric organ to Second Baptist Church.
