Handwritten letter from L.O. Boardnan to his brother, Edmund, 1853
The letter is in a small envelope bearing a pink three cent stamp, cancelled by a squiggle in ink. On the back of the envelope is a postmark reading Boston Dec 2 Mass with the words curved to fit inside the circle. The front of the envelope reads:

The last three lines are in the writer's very best script. The top two are written more casually.
The letter is on a 6 1/4 by 8 inch sheet, folded to make four pages, It is headed, "Islesboro Nov. 26 1853" and begins "Dear Brother." In the course of the letter, the recipient is addressed as Edmund. It is signed :Your True Brother L O Boardman. L.O. writes about the family, taking care of house and children, Norton bought a new pinkie, and please return the book I loaned you.
