Ship's compass has a glass face 5 1/2 inches in diameter, a black metal rim 1/2 inch wide, 10 screws on the rim, and the compass is mounted on gimbals made of the same black metal. The compass contains enough alcohol to allow the compass board to float in it. The compass is contained in a box so that the rest of the compass cannot be described. The box (not a binnacle) is described in 470.002.

Special Significance: This compass is one of two installed on Gov. Brann when she was launched in May, 1936
