Three Newspaper Clippings from 1942 and 1944. The first, an opinion peice from the October 2, 1942 Press Herald, is by Emily Pendleton, the President of the York County Teachers' Association. She writes to ask the question why the state's teachers shouldn't be allowed the extra gas and tire rations to travel to the State Convention. The other two clippings report the same event, the death of Pfc. Richard MacLeod of Dark Harbor in his service with the First Army in Germany. The Press Herald published thier article on Wednesday, December 6, 1944 and the Belfast Republican Journal on Thursday, December 7, 1944.
