Description

Metal star-shaped grave marker, interior circle 3 1/2 inches in diameter with five points each extending 1 3/4 inches from the circle and each with a three-lobed rounded end containing a star in the middle of the end. Between the lobed ends of the points and the interior circle are raised inscriptions starting at the lower left corner and ending at the lower right. These inscriptions are in the form of symbols: an anchor, two crossed swords, two crossed rifles, two crossed cannons, and a bugle. In the interior circle are the raised inscriptions "G A R" "1861 1865". There are three metal rings on the back of the marker. The lower two are close together. There is no rod attached to the marker. Special Significance: A marker for a serviceman in the Civil War.
