Base - 10 1/8 inches x 5 1/4 inches x 4 inches, black heavy cardboard with a metal latch and metal corner protectors. Inside the base is a removable metal box of approximately the same dimensions.
Cover-- 10 1/4 inches x 6 1/8 inches x 5 7/8 inches x 1 inch (The cover is peaked and resembles the roof of a house.) On the top of the cover is a leather handle with the word "THERMUS" stamped into it. The cover contains metal corner protectors, fasteners, and the rest of the latch. Inside the cover is a cardboard holder (for the thermus bottle) which is closed with a leathr strap.
Special Significance: Probably made during World War II when metal was scarce for civilian use.
