Typed transcript of 1872 diary kept by Georgie C Philbrook (b 1846) who lived on Acre Island. Population ?, but 30+ students in school. Often off by boat to Camden, Lincolnville, and L I (Long Island aka Islesborough). Spun, quilted, sewed, knit nets, hayed, babysat, cleaned house, visited relatives on Acre and L I and else where around the Bay. No mention of reading, but wrote and received letters. Her mother wove, and wound warps, but no mention that Georgie did, but she did spin and knit many nets. Had "Chopping Bees" which are not defined: wood?, corn for fodder??? It appears that the house had many visitors, and large groups (for meals?) of 30+
