letters to Wetherly J Dodge (var.) apparently from Sarah L Pendleton. Very loving letters, at least one from a Sarah J Pendleton and all in same handwriting and poor spelling. Found in the wall of upstairs room in the former Dodge home next to Bonnet Farm. Not easily traced in Farrow. Difficult to read with many misspellings etc. Letter 1a Jan 1874: Sarah is angry (you don care), jealous (with a nice looking young girl by your side), and lonesome Letter 1 to Wealthy in Bangor. Lonely, expects the lord will forgive him for "you no not what you do" (sic) Letter 2 to Wealthy in Portsmouth 6/22/1875: "father is up theare all alone and you no how he is lame and sick ... beg of you to stay with him ... he will pay you ... help him load and come down home with him ... no nuse to Wright only that Jim P has moved dow to E--- ... I don't know but mother will come up the river with Lyanes ... I am agoing send this up by Ambos Dodge ... don't leave father alone" Letter 3 June 20, 1875 "...John Comfy is dead abord his vessel ... dont ship -- Warren's nor stay abord of him to live you Will get that fever nor don't go abord of Philip Pendleton darling try and come home to the forth of July and We will go to Belfast therre is a grate --- "
